Cycling Across Egypt: Farah’s Experience<\/h2>\n

Farah Wael, a passionate Gazef adventurer, took part in an extraordinary 11-day cycling challenge from Cairo to Aswan in November 2021. The route took her through stunning locations like Sokhna, Ras Gharib, Gouna, Qusseir, and Marsa Alam. She even sleeped in a mosque in Sidi Salem before reaching Edfu and finally stopping in Aswan.\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

Farah\u2019s decision to join the journey stemmed from her admiration for cyclists. \u201cPeople who cycled impressed me,\u201d she shared. It was also a way for her to experience Egypt in a completely new way while testing her physical limits. Despite only doing a few preparatory rides, with her longest being 30 km, she wasn\u2019t worried about mental preparation.:\u201cYou just do it, no need to overthink as long as you know how to ride a bicycle,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Her favorite part of the trip was the connection she felt with the people. \u201cDefinitely the people you meet on the streets,\u201d she recounted. Along the journey, she was met with applause and encouragement from locals, and even people in cars passing on the streets. She specifically remembers a number of incidents when locals would comment on her strength, doing this as a woman. These types of interactions were so inspirational and meaningful to her. Even on tough days when motivation was low, she kept pushing herself, embodying the spirit of the challenge. \u201cThis is the idea of the journey, to keep going even if you don\u2019t feel like doing it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

By the end of the challenge, Farah had transformed her abilities. What started with frequent rests every 5 km on the first day ended with an incredible 110 km on the final day. \u201cThe most rewarding part was seeing my progress,\u201d she said proudly. Beyond the physical achievement, she was also awestruck by the natural beauty she encountered. \u201cI cannot describe the beauty of the roads we cycled through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though her journey ended in Aswan\u2014she was ready for more. \u201cAfter I made it to Aswan, I was so motivated to keep going until Sudan,\u201d she added. The experience left her with a deep sense of accomplishment. \u201cI pushed myself in ways I never thought possible. It\u2019s crazy to see what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
